Animated Poem

They are waiting for me somewhere beyond Eden Rock:

My father, twenty-five, in the same suit

Of Genuine Irish Tweed, his terrier Jack

Still two years old and trembling at his feet.

My mother, twenty-three, in a sprigged dress

Drawn at the waist, ribbon in her straw hat,

Has spread the stiff white cloth over the grass.

Her hair, the colour of wheat, takes on the light.

She pours tea from a Thermos, the milk straight

From an old H.P. sauce-bottle, a screw

Of paper for a cork; slowly sets out

The same three plates, the tin cups painted blue.

The sky whitens as if lit by three suns.

My mother shades her eyes and looks my way

Over the drifted stream. My father spins

A stone along the water. Leisurely,

They beckon to me from the other bank.

I hear them call, 'See where the stream-path is!

Crossing is not as hard as you might think.'

I had not thought that it would be like this.

That was my first animation so I'm very glad how it turns. Traditional animation using paper, camera, pens and markers. (Y)

A2 Posters

Work in Process by the Illustration - Animation BA

The posters should contain aspects of the A5 posters we did before about Heads, Hands and Hearts mixing them in one A2 poster.

I'm adding my personal favourites ones..

Abstract Book Cover

The first one is "Wind in the Willow" by Kenneth Grahame. Unfortunately I haven't read this book but I tried to get the feeling of the story reading the synopsis and that was the result.

The next one is "The Jungle book" by Rudyard Kipling. I chose a palette with greens and oranges. I also, in general, like to use the white (blank) spaces  for composition purposes. to finish I scratched with the palette knife for a final touch.

"The Sea, The Sea" by Iris Murdich. Was quite difficult not to be obvious. I mixed lots of shades of blue and some of them aren't too mixed to give this 3d sense.

"Inferno" by Dante Alighieri. Basic used shades of reds also not much mixed and in this case I used water for effect.

"An Omelette and a Glass of Wine" by Elizabeth David. Light and dark blue for background. two abstract shapes makes the omelette (tons of yellow) and the wine (tons of red).

And that i it... was fun to make those, hope you like it...

Walk Cycle

For this walk cycle I used a video (that I made) as my source and drew it.

The goal of this is draw a walk cycle in a different angle..

was pretty interesting to see how the movement works..

 By the way.. I monster was on me... (hehe)

Animated Poem (Process)

(Sketching key frames 1-22) I started sketching my key frames just to have an idea of what I was thinking.. By the way It's not a literal interpretation of the poem..

(Yes.. That was the first attempt for the first idea...)

I did change it a lot and add lots more frames and that is the result.

Animated Poem (Sketching key frames 1-26) (FIRST PART) 

As you can see I tried to play with the timing to give a more realistic feeling to the animation and worked... (yeeey..) now that I got the idea right and have the key frames for that I just need to add more "in between" frames to it.

And that is the result:

132 frames in total. Next step is colouring but not all the animation, i want to make it in grey tone and make the cups blue.
